HAve you seen MotoCAP at your local event?
MotoCAP has been out talking to riders about motorcycle gear safety ratings. MotoCAP Chief Scientist, Associate Professor Chris Hurren was at the Ulysses Club National Rally 2025 in Armidale and spoke at their Road Safety Forum about the science behind MotoCAP. It was a full room of interested riders with great questions for Chris.
At the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Transport for NSW displayed CRASH rated helmets and MotoCAP rated jackets, pants and gloves at their stand. Riders could see the difference between how half-star rated gear performs in a slide compared to five-star rated gear through testing with a crash test dummy.
In early April, MotoCAP was in WA for the York Motorcycle Festival. Thanks to the riders who stopped by to learn about MotoCAP and how motorcycle armour in jackets and pants has improved over time.
The MotoCAP test laboratory at Deakin University Institute for Frontier Materials at the Waurn Ponds campus in Geelong Victoria recently opened their doors to the public and toured riders around to see MotoCAP testing in action. MotoCAP hosts an open day every year, inviting riders to come and talk gear with the testing team. To get a taste of what you can see at the open day, check out the video below which shows how and why MotoCAP tests the abrasion resistance of gear.
